| We live in exciting times for active travel and discovery! More and more people are realizing the life long benefits brought about by experiencing a different culture, the totality of a place, a foreign language, and a new world. Adventures in Austria values a high level of immersion in the local environment, which evolves into unique, pleasurable and fulfilling travel vacations, whether hiking or biking.
The idea for starting “Adventures in Austria” came about as the result of taking a personal cycling and biking vacation with my brother. In the summer of 1997, we set out to explore the biking and alpine hiking routes in our “native“ Austria. Although we had participated in many very enjoyable hiking and biking tours in the western U.S., we found the routes and atmosphere in Austria very exciting. We soon developed a desire to share our new discoveries, the beauty of Austria and our heritage. Family and friends encouraged us to share these experiences from Austria with others.
From September to June I teach special needs youngsters. During these months my heart and energy is devoted to the students. When summer arrives my love of my native country calls me to share its splendor and culture. In 1998, I led my first adventure to Austria with a small group of seven. We hiked from lodge-to-lodge in the Alps and cycled along the magnificent Danube from Passau to Vienna. Since then, I have added a new cycling tour through the heartland of Austria, along the Enns and Danube Rivers.
The four adventures include segments of cycling, hiking, site seeing and city visits. The emphasis of Adventures in Austria is on biking and hiking, but the experiences don’t end at the edge of the cities. I’ll also help you with details about points of interest, Salzburg Music Festival tickets and museum information in Vienna.
In addition to describing the day-by-day itinerary we also share with you the philosophy of our personnel way of traveling. Our approach includes:
