The cycling is enjoyable and offers two choices at different levels. On the Danube Delight Tour you will ride on flat terrain, whereas on the Cycling Austria’s Heartland there are some moderate hills on the first three days. If you have previously ridden 35- 45 miles with some hills it should not pose a problem. Bicycles have comfortable seats and upright handlebars and are of a cross bike variety with 21 gears.
This rugged terrain of ascents and descents has moderately strenuous hiking. Some fitness training (brisk walking, jogging, stair climbing, or treadmill exercise), would be a good preparation. Hiking shoes should be previously worn and comfortable to avoid blisters. Daily hiking elevation is mostly between 1500 and 2500 meters (5,000 and 8,000 feet). The optional Dachstein ascent is an additional 214 meter (700 feet) climb. |
